Comprehensive Programs
Core 13 EMT
Refresher (24)
ETC provides EMT Refresher training that is informative and
interesting. Many Core 13s simply re-hash the EMT book. We attempt
to provide additional information so if the student has to be there,
at least they learn something. We include several hours of practical
stations using equipment we bring to your station. Instruction is by
EMT Instructors and/or paramedics.
EMS Officer I (24)
Emergency Training and Consulting has developed a comprehensive
training program for EMS Officers at the Field Supervisor level.
This program is based on key concepts from Fire Officer I and other
leadership programs, and designed to provide a broad base of
knowledge to the new EMS leader. Instructors are proven leaders
in EMS and the Fire Service, with many years of experience in
managing volunteer, combination, private, non-profit and fire based
systems. It is important to understand that this program will
review concepts for EMS systems across the country, paid and
volunteer. Not all concepts will apply to your current agency.
24 Elective CEUs.
Module 1: Introduction (History of EMS, Components of an
EMS System)
Module 2: Leadership (Roles and responsibilities of an EMS
Officer, Qualities of an effective Leader)
Module 3: Quality and Operations (Quality Improvement,

Module 4: Legal Issues in EMS (EMTALA, HIPPA, FLSA)

EMS Officer II
This program will continue EMS Officer I, and will include topics
such as diversity, grants, recruitment and retention, EMS billing and
more. Targeted for the Chief Officer. Although not all topics will
pertain to every organization, many younger officers will work or
volunteer for a variety of departments in their lifetime.
Geriatric Training
for EMS (GEMS) (8)
The proportion of the aged in society
today is greater than ever before, and growing faster than any other
segment of our population. Current indications are that approximately
34% of calls for emergency medical services, or 3.4 million emergency
responses involve patients over the age of 60. GEMS represents the
most credible and complete source of prehospital medical information
for older adults.

BTLS: Basic Trauma Life Support (16)
This
2 day, 16 CEU program is one of the 2 major trauma continuing education
programs available to EMS providers. ETC can offer this program at
your station with a minimum of only 12 students. In addition, ETC
separates the basic and advanced providers so EMT's can obtain maximum
benefit and not just look to the ALS providers. We will be offering
BTLS-Pediatric, BTLS Refreshers, and one to two ALS-only programs per
year as well.
BDLS: Basic Disaster Life Support (8)
BDLS is
an 8 hour course that covers a variety of topics including the disaster
paradigm, natural and manmade disasters, traumatic and explosive events,
nuclear and radiological weapon attacks, chem-bio events, the public
health system, and psychological aspects of disasters. It is
designed for all providers of emergency care from EMT and firfighter to
the physician and nurse. CEU credit has also been awarded to
physicians. Find out more at
