Council CEVO II -
Ambulance (8)
This
National Safety Council program, Coaching the Emergency Vehicle
Operator, is an interactive case based program designed to help the
EMS driver.
National Safety Council Defensive Driving Course (6)
This
6 hour/6 CEU class is popular among drivers of all ages and experience
levels. In addition to the educational value of the topics presented,
students that complete this class can have 2 points deducted from
their driving record and also receive a 5% discount
off their automobile insurance for 3 years.
The average car insurance bill in the NJ/PA area is over $1,000. A
discount of 5% means a savings of $150 over 3 years. Thus, this class
pays for itself after only 1 year.
ETC can bring this class to your location, such as senior centers,
schools, church or civic groups, companies or municipalities. We provide
all materials and books. The class includes class discussion, activities,
case studies and video presentations. The schedule can be over 2 evenings
or 1 full day, scheduled at the convenience of your organization.
Topics
Topics that are covered in this class include:
- Driving Defensively: Identify risky attitudes and behaviors.
- Making Safe Choices: Benefits of restraint systems, avoiding
alcohol, maintain control in adverse driving situations
- Becoming Aware of Conditions: How to avoid collisions and other
drivers.
- Hone Your Skills: Skills and techniques to avoid head on
collisions, safe and legal turns, hazards of passing.
The cost for this class is $50 per student, free for eligible
volunteers. A minimum of 10 students is required to hold the class.
Emergency Vehicle
Operator's Course (EVOC) (8)
EVOC is a National Standard Curriculum for EMS drivers. The goal
of the program is to decrease ambulance crashes and improve
operations. Discussion regarding red lights and siren use is
included. Also includes a practical driving course. Host agencies
must provide 80-100 cones and a location for the driving course.
