Recertification Information
All New Jersey EMTs must obtain 24 Core and 24 Elective CEUs every 3
years. EMTs may not repeat the same program for credit in any 3 year
cycle. CEUs may not carry over from one cycle to the next.
EMTs should complete all CEUs at least 3 months before the end of
their cycle to ensure that they will get their EMT card before their old
card expires.
National Registry EMTs are required to have at least 24 Core and 48
Elective CEUs every 2 years.
EMTs with cards from New York, Pennsylvania or National Registry can
practice in New Jersey without obtaining reciprocity.
